Treatment Process

Comprehensive Assessment

Your dentist or hygienist will thoroughly examine your gums, measure pocket depths, assess gum recession, check for bleeding and inflammation, and potentially take X-rays to evaluate bone levels.

Professional Cleaning (Scale and Polish)

Using specialized instruments, your hygienist will remove plaque and tartar (calculus) from above and below the gumline, and polish your teeth to remove stains and smooth the surfaces.

Deep Cleaning (for Advanced Cases)

For more severe gum disease, deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) may be performed to remove bacteria and smooth root surfaces below the gumline, possibly under local anesthesia.

Personalized Home Care Instruction

Your hygienist will demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques and recommend appropriate tools such as interdental brushes or water flossers based on your specific needs.

Maintenance and Monitoring

Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled based on your condition to monitor your gum health and provide additional cleaning as needed.

Aftercare

Following your hygiene treatment, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth thoroughly twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between your teeth daily with floss or interdental brushes. Use an antimicrobial mouthwash if recommended by your dentist or hygienist. Some sensitivity is normal after deep cleaning but should subside within a few days. Avoid smoking and limit sugary foods and drinks. Attend regular maintenance appointments as advised by your dental team to prevent recurrence of gum disease.

Frequently Asked Questions

Patient Stories

"After being diagnosed with moderate gum disease, I was worried about losing my teeth. The hygienist at Confidental Clinic created a treatment plan that included several deep cleaning sessions and taught me proper brushing and flossing techniques. Six months later, my gums are healthy again, and I'm diligent about my home care routine. The team was incredibly supportive and non-judgmental throughout the process."

Helen Murray

"Regular hygiene appointments at Confidental Clinic have transformed my oral health. My previous dentist never emphasized gum health, but here they take a comprehensive approach. The hygienist is thorough yet gentle, and takes time to explain what she's doing and why. My gums no longer bleed when brushing, and my breath is much fresher. I can't recommend their periodontal care highly enough."
